A <strong>PHD scientist<\/strong> based in the deepest, darkest depths of Russia (Kazan to be precise) when he&#8217;s not publishing academic articles on physical chemistry, he&#8217;s conjuring creations that dig spiky claws into the rich history of electronic music with one hand and caress your ears with the other.<\/p>\n<p>Operating at the fertile forefront of myriad genres, whether he&#8217;s slapping down crisp synth-driven D&amp;B, remixing rock legend <strong>Billy Idol<\/strong> or hurling down <strong>Boy George<\/strong>-approved techno on super-respected imprints such as <strong>Bad Life<\/strong>, his sonic motifs are dark, dynamic and ultimately physical. This EP is the perfect example of his high level abilities.<\/p>\n<p>Within split seconds of igniting, &#8216;<strong>Hell Sequence&#8217;<\/strong> is so nagging it&#8217;s in danger of infecting your brain for eternity. With its detuned arpeggio, there&#8217;s a strong air of paranoia throughout as we rise and rise towards a dense techno-influenced drop. Sweaty, but ultimately funky, &#8216;Hell Sequence&#8217; is sprung with a relentless loopy energy that twists and morphs and worms deep into your psyche.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Sequence XV III&#8217;<\/strong> builds on these ingredients with a different twist. Here the main bedrock riff is a higher note, allowing a rich flow of darker bass textures bubble and surge beneath. Deep-coded with an array of percussive elements that become part of the loopy melody, it&#8217;s an instant cause for complete dancefloor hypnosis; locking your floor tightly from its blast off to its stark, naked-synth breakdown.<\/p>\n<p>Take away the tempo and they defy simple genre classification. Imagine Sub Focus covering a Juan Atkins track. Or Noisia remixing Black Strobe. Gmorozov has created some seriously timeless electronic music right here.
